LEADER supports private enterprises and community groups who improve quality of life and economic activity in rural areas.
Helping rural communities to actively engage and to direct the local development of their area, through community-led local development.
This aid is provided to projects under the following themes:
- Economic development, enterprise development and job creation
- Social inclusion
- Rural environment
Funding Period
The last LEADER programme ran from 2014-2020 and a new one is unlikely to commence before 2023. In the interim a transitional LEADER Programme which came into effect on 1st April 2021.
